The premise

Useful equipment deserves a second act.

Many solid exercise machines are one sensor, controller, or open protocol away from working with modern training experiences.

FrankenTrainer explores those missing connections through mechanical adapters, electronics, firmware, and plenty of workbench diagnosis. The goal is not one universal conversion kit. It is learning what adaptable fitness equipment can look like in the real world.

Built across layers

Mechanics, signals, software.

  • Understand the machine. Measure the resistance system, drivetrain, sensors, and control behavior already there.
  • Add the bridge. Prototype the electronics, firmware, and mechanical parts needed to expose useful control.
  • Speak a common language. Explore Bluetooth fitness-machine behavior so the adapted trainer can join wider fitness ecosystems.

How it fits

The equipment should meet people where they are, too.

BeatBiker adapts the workout around music. FrankenTrainer adapts the machine around the workout. Together they make the ExerScreen idea tangible from both directions.

FrankenTrainer remains an active workshop project—not a finished product, commercial kit, or installation service.
